Fee incentives
With the aim of ensuring international competitiveness as a user-oriented port, the Council for the Port of Nagoya into the 21st Century (secretariat: Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry) was established. This council has been cooperating with both public and private organizations in studies of service enhancement and cost reduction.
The Nagoya Port Authority, following the council's proposals, introduced the following incentives for port users.

Port Dues/Dockage
1. Vessels entering the port prior to the day of stevedoring operation
Vessels entering the Port between two days prior to and midnight of the day before stevedoring operations are exempt from dockage fees/mooring buoy usage fees at public berths until 8:00 a.m. of the day of actual stevedoring operations.
All vessels (coastal, oceangoing, conventional, container and cruise vessels) meeting the above condition are eligible for this incentive.
* This incentive is only available in cases when public berths/buoys are being used.

---- Charges are levied from 8:00 a.m. on the day of stevedoring works.

2. Vessels conducting stevedoring works on Sundays

Oceangoing full container vessels conducting stevedoring operation on Sundays are exempt from port dues and receive a 30% discount on dockage fees at public berths.

3. Container vessels on the first round of newly inaugurated routes

The first vessel calling at the Port on newly inaugurated routes is exempt from port dues and dockage fees
.  In addition, subsequent vessels on the first round of new routes (USWC: 5-6 vessels, Europe: 8-9 vessels) can also receive a 50% discount on port dues and a 20% discount on dockage fees.

4. Vessels of 40,000 G/T and over

Large vessels weighing 40,000 g/t and over can receive a 5% discount on port dues, unless the following condition No. 5 is applicable. In addition, discounts of 5% are available for use of public berths and mooring buoys.

5. Container vessels of 60,000 G/T and over

The maximun amount of port dues for full container vessels of 60,000 g/t and over is set at 153,900 JPY. In addition, a discount of 5% is available for use of public berths.

Cruise ships
The Association for the Promotion of Utilization of Nagoya Port also offers financial assistance to cruise ships. Subsidies equal to port dues are provided for cruise ships on a request basis.
