Port of Nagoya opens its first onshore power supply facility for workboats

An onshore power supply facility with a workboat while at berth

The Nagoya Port Authority announced that an onshore power supply facility for workboats was officially put into operation at Kinjo Pier on April 1, 2025.
An onshore power supply enables vessels to shut down their auxiliary engines while at berth as they are connected to the Port’s electricity system, which uses renewable energy sources.
This reduces greenhouse gas emissions in the Port environment.

The Nagoya Port Authority formulated the “Nagoya Port Decarbonization Promotion Plan” in March 2024.
Our aim is to form a carbon neutral port with reduced greenhouse gas emissions in cooperation with public and private entities.
