Statistics 2013

In 2013, total cargo throughput at the Port of Nagoya was 208 million tons, growing by 2.8% over the previous year and maintaining the top spot among all ports in Japan for the twelfth consecutive year.

International trade also showed an increase of 0.8% to 141 million tons. The volume of exports grew steadily with a major contribution from completed automobiles, automobile parts, steel materials and industrial machinery. Also the major import items for this year were LNG and iron ore.

Containerized cargo trade reached 48.9 million tons (up 3.0%), with the total number of containers at 2.71 million TEUs (up 2.0%). With outgoings of 1.36 million TEUs and incomings of 1.35 million TEUs, container trade at the Port of Nagoya shows a good balance.
