2018 Annual Trade

In 2018, total cargo throughput at the Port of Nagoya was 197 million tons, growing by 0.3% over the previous year. It is expected that the Port of Nagoya is keeping the top spot in the volume handled among all ports in Japan for the 17th consecutive year.

The cargo throughput in international trade was 130 million tons (up 1.4%) .Major export items were completed automobiles, automobile parts, industrial machinery, steel materials and miscellaneous chemical products. Major import items were LNG, iron ore, crude oil, coal aod wearable items.

Containerized cargo trade reached 50.1 million tons (up 1.0%), with the total number of containers at 2.88 million TEU (up 3.3%). With 1.4 million TEU outgoing(up 3.1%) and 1.4 million TEU incoming(up 3.5%), container trade at the Port of Nagoya is well balanced.
