Statistics 2011

In 2011, total cargo throughput at the Port of Nagoya was 186 million tons, growing by 0.3% over the previous year and maintaining the top spot among all ports in Japan for the tenth consecutive year.

International trade also showed an increase of 2.7% to 130 million tons. The volume of exports grew steadily with a major contribution from completed automobiles, automobile parts, and industrial machinery. Import commodities showing sustainable growth were LNG and iron ore.

Containerized cargo trade reached 47.0 million tons (up 3.3%), with the total number of containers at 2.62 million TEUs (up 2.9%). With outgoings of 1.31 million TEUs and incomings of 1.30 million TEUs, container trade at the Port of Nagoya shows a good balance.
