In 2023, total cargo throughput at the Port of Nagoya was 157.8 million tons, down 3.5% compared to the previous year. However, it is expected that the Port of Nagoya is keeping the top spot in the volume handled among all ports in Japan for the 22nd consecutive year.
The total volume of global trade was 109.1 million tons (up 0.3%). Major export items were completed automobiles, automobile parts and industrial machineries. Major import items were natural resources such as LNG, crude oil, iron ore and coal.
We handled 2.70 million TEUs of containers in total, up 0.7% compared to the previous year, with 45.3 million tons (down 1.8%). With 1.35 million TEU outgoing (up 0.2%) and 1.35 million TEU incoming (up 1.2%), international container trade at the Port of Nagoya is well balanced.
